Stachetacular! Featuring #Movember and #NorelcoDads

Today is the saddest day of the year... for mustaches.  It's shave day!  I have created a little video for you to enjoy, but first, I wanted to give you a few thoughts about my Movember campaign.

I got involved in this campaign because I wanted to see the power of dads banding together for social good.  I haven't had cancer, and none of the men in my life have had prostate cancer.  But I do know people with loved ones who have had it.  I have been fortunate enough to dodge that bullet, but when you look at the odds - 1 in 2 - it won't be long until it hits closer to home.  I want to be around for my little girl, and I don't want something like cancer to rob me of the joy of seeing her grow up.  That's why I wanted to make a difference by being a part of this team.  And while I didn't raise a ton of money, I can guarantee I brought a lot of attention to the issue, and hopefully, someone gained some knowledge or gave a little bit to someone else as a result of my efforts.

Our team captain was Doug French of Laid Off Dad and Dads2.0, and the team consisted of the guys from NYC Dads Group and a bunch of dad writers/bloggers including Dad Labs, Bobble Head Dad, John Cave Osbourne, How to be a Dad, Whit Honea, The Jack B, DadCentric, Man of the House, and many more.  The group brought in over $19,000 and with Doug's help, Philips Norelco partnered up with us to match $15,000 bringing our grand total to over $34,000!

As part of our partnership with Norelco, they supplied a bunch of us with brand new vacuum beard trimmers and SensoTouch3D shavers for us to use in our videos, which can be seen at Stachetacular.com.

The Norelco Vacuum Stubble & Beard Trimmer Pro was great to use.  I had a beard trimmer before receiving this one (actually a cheaper Norelco model), but I had to change the heads for different lengths, and it always left a mess on the sink (which my wife hated).  The best feature on the Pro trimmer is the vacuum.  There is no mess left behind!  Also, the head is adjustable so you don't have to change out for different sizes.  The entire unit can fit into a drawer instead of taking up my entire sink area.  The other feature I noticed was that the battery life on this model, at nearly an hour, is much longer than my old one.  Bright LED displays let you know if the battery is low, and there is a "turbo" mode for increased blade and vacuum speed.  Any guy that does regular facial maintenance will enjoy this trimmer.

The SensoTouch3D did not come with 3D glasses as I had hoped, but it has every other feature you're looking for in an electric shaver.  The triple blades are gentle on your face and the smooth vibrations make it feel like three tiny angels dancing on your cheeks - it's that good!  There is a built in precision trimmer for fine grooming too.  The blades are easy to clean, and the jet cleaning system (see the end of the video) is space age cool with LED displays.  The battery charges very quickly, and has a life of almost an hour, but hopefully I will never need to shave for that long.  My wife says that this is the sexiest shaver out there!  I agree.

In addition to giving us free products and matching $15,000 toward our Movember campaign, Norelco is offering you something as well.  You can click here to receive a $30 rebate on your own SensoTouch product!  How cool is that?!  A big thanks to Philips Norelco for supporting a great cause - MEN!

While I enjoyed the little fuzzy fella under my nose for the month of November, I will say that my wife is extra kissy tonight and is happy to see him gone.  My daughter did look at me funny when I woke her up from her nap.  She went to sleep with a daddy that had "whiskers" as she called it, and woke up with a clean shaven daddy.  The look on her face was priceless, and made this whole thing worth while.

As always, I do disclose.  Philips Norelco provided me with the Vacuum Stubble & Beard Trimmer Pro and the SensoTouch3D shaver in exchange for posting the video of my first shave after Movember and reviewing the product here on the blog.  As always, the thoughts about the product are my own.
