How @BloggerIdol Will Make Me A Better Father

After a year and a half of writing about fatherhood on this blog, I have finally realized that I am finally ready for the next big step.  I am ready to take the challenge and put my best stuff out there for everyone to admire.  I am auditioning for Blogger Idol.

My blog has given me opportunities to write about some amazing things - perfectly constructed tacos, my child's interesting choice of vocabulary, and even hating my fat hands.  I have written about the joys and sorrows of parenthood, the marketing practices of major corporations, and even about shadow puppets!  I am ready for a real challenge, and Blogger Idol will be just that.

I have also heard that participating in Blogger Idol makes your life awesome.  I know a friend that participated last year, and his life is amazing now thanks to Blogger Idol!

Blogger Idol isn't just a new challenge for me as a writer.  I sincerely believe it will make me a better father.  How so?  Because I could win some of these awesome prizes!  You don't think prizes will make me a better father?  I disagree!  You see, if I won the Galaxy Tab, I would be the coolest dad on my block, or at least the coolest dad in our row of town homes.  And everyone knows that cool dads have more street cred with the kids.  And street cred with the kids means that I can keep a closer eye on them so they don't get in trouble.  See?  Told you.

Even if I somehow managed to come in second place, I would win Dragon: Naturally Speaking.  With this software, I could write my blog posts simply by talking to my computer.  That would free up my hands to do all sorts of things like laundry, dishes, Play-Doh, coloring, cleaning, diaper changing, or potty training (although I fear that my posts would all end up being titled "Do you have to pee-pee?" or "Just Push It Out, Honey!").  Let's hope I win that tablet!

Make sure you follow @BloggerIdol on Twitter so you can get instant updates.  If you feel like supporting your favorite blogger (of course I'm talking about me), then you can let the judges know that you'd like to see The Real Matt Daddy in the Top 12 by commenting on their Facebook page.
